Salt Lake City, UT

We spent 2 weeks in Salt Lake City but I am a week late writing this blog post. I departed for Philly before sunrise the day after we moved here to Grand Junction, CO. The good news is that Kimberly gets to write about Grand Junction since I only spent 1 day there.

The beauty of Salt Lake City and surrounding areas were completely different than other places on our travels. Coming from Nevada, we drove through the Bonneville Salt Flats that looked other worldly. While driving through the flats, our eyes thought we were looking at water but we were looking dry land. Wikipedia says:

The Bonneville Salt Flats are a densely packed salt pan in Tooele County in northwestern Utah. A remnant of the Pleistocene Lake Bonneville, it the largest of many salt flats west of the Great Salt Lake. It is public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management and is known for land speed records at the Bonneville Speedway. Access to the Flats is open to the public.

The Flats are about 12 miles (19 km) long and 5 miles (8 km) wide, with a crust almost 5 ft (1.5m) thick at the center and less than one inch (2.5 cm) towards the edges. It is estimated to hold 147 million tons of salt, approximately 90% of which is common table salt.[2]

Kimberly traveled for work both weeks we were there so we made the best of the time she was home. Mollie and I had a great time on the bike paths that we right behind our campground and went everywhere.

We drove to Park City, UT one day for twirling and lunch. We pretended we were alpine skiers, lol. I wanted to bobsled at the Olympic village but it wasn’t open.

We hit a few brew pubs before we were schooled about the very strict beer laws in Utah. I wont go into details but lets just say we wont be moving to Utah.
