5 weeks in Aurora/Denver Colorado

I/We were so busy in Colorado that I didn’t write a halfway blog post and today I’m regretting that. I have scrolled through the pictures and see just how much fun it was and all that we experienced in such a short time. So, fill up your cup, this post will be long.

Our hosts Kathy and Joe Lima were on their way to Portugal just days after we got there. I had to learn all about their amazing Aussie/Shepherd, Jolene. Kimberly has known Kathy and Joe for a very long time but I had only met them during our last visit during our travels. How happy were we that they were open to us caring for their precious Jolene as well as an additional 3 weeks so we could truly explore the possibility of living in the Denver area when we settle.

Although Kimberly traveled for work a good bit, we were able to get a good overview of the area. We loved the restaurants and brew pubs, the parks and green space, the walking and bike trails, and the diverse and friendly people. We do think we will move there when our extended time in California is over.

We made a point of going outside of the Denver area when Kimberly was home on weekends. The beauty of the Rocky Mountain foothills are so close to Denver and Aurora and easy day trips to these cool little mountain towns were so nice. While Kimberly was traveling one week, Kathy and I drove to Rocky Mountain National Park and took both dogs to Estes Park, Co where we saw Elk!

While we were there we visited Red Rock Canyon Amphitheater and took in a concert at Breckinridge Brewery. We visited many breweries in some beautiful and walkable neighborhoods. We went to a wine walk nearby and found other normal life activities like groomers, banking, pizza and grocery stores.  It sort of felt like we fit right in.

We both feel pretty strongly that the Denver area could be our next permanent address. It seems to check off all the boxes for both of us and Mollie too. We like Colorados location in the middle of the country as well. It is easier for Kimberly to travel in any direction and the climate is so nice. Personally, I’m looking forward to four seasons!

So now we are in Novato, CA through the first of the year and then onto Sonoma, CA through May or June. Then off to settle in to a new “home”. We will be traveling back to Florida during the Thanksgiving holiday week and hope to reconnect with any of you readers from there. Until then, enjoy the pictures from 5 weeks in Colorado.

Special gratitude and love to Kathy, Joe and Jolene Lima for their most generous gift of housing and friendship. I so enjoyed being a small part of their amazing family and community.
