Two Weeks in Lakeland, FL

So we left the Hartford resort with tons of gratitude and love for our friends Teri and Josh (and Macy too). We basically camped in their front yard like a bunch of hobos with no problems at all. It was a perfect place to be as we finished up local duties and appointments.

On 6/21 we moved to Sanlan RV and golf resort. I could write an entire book on this chapter but I will will spare you. The purpose of this 2 week stop was for my dear sweet wife to close out her 38 year career as a NICU bedside nurse. She had years and years of goodbye parties and cocktail hours to attend…and even traveled for Draeger one of those weeks. This left me at Sanlan RV and golf resort by myself with Mollie a lot. As we continue to book our campsites, we won’t be staying at too many “resorts”. It was like Summer camp, sort of.

They have swimming pools, shuffleboard, horseshoes, golf, laundry facilities and, GOLF CARTS. Lots of golf carts. And, with 500 campsites, they have a fully staffed maintenance crew that starts mowing and digging daily at 0700. Must be why the place is perfectly groomed! I chose the bike trails when it wasn’t raining…which it did EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Kimberly, and sometimes me, celebrated daily, nightly, and then some. She had a dinner or a party or a lunch meet up everyday she was available. She deserved a big send off after all these years as a bedside nurse. Her last day was Independence Day and we promptly pulled out of Lakeland on 7/5…with a hurricane following us.

  2. What a fantastic send off for you Kimberly, you will be greatly missed I’m sure. What fun you will have on your adventures. You never know maybe one day we will see you on your travels. Huge hugs and safe travel wishes from us over the pond xxx

  6. This is the BEST!! Yay!!! Sorry it was so soggy here in Lakeland… tried to zoom in on Kimberly clocking out for the last time to see if there were any tears, but only able to see a big smile 😊 love you both! Thanks for the posts 😘
